What is New Brain Living

Jean Oostrom has a brain injury.  On May 13, 1997 at 4 a.m. in the morning Jean woke up with paralysis on the right side of her body.  The recovery journey is written on this website so that people who have brain injuries and the people who care for them can find answers for their own personal recovery.

The purpose of the website is to provide a place where brain injured people can come and get information that could make their recovery a little easier.  It is also a place where the people who care for a brain injured person can come and collect information and an insight on how to help their mom, dad, brother, sister, son, daughter, wife, husband, or friend.

Jean shares her story and her steps to recovery from a candid and honest point of view.  She also shares all the alternative therapies she has tried, the books she has read and how even today there is still recovery in little ways.

The New Brain Living website is 100% accessibility for all brain injured people who have difficulty processing information, retaining information and also for brain injured people who struggle with reading.  This website will provide up to date information about the latest technology and how technology can help with recovery from brain injuries and a blog for people to share their brain injury story.

There is the option to change the font size or brain injured people can listen to the website if they struggle with reading or their brains have difficulty processing information from the written page.

Most important this website will provide a place where brain injured people and the people who care for them will find a story that will inspire them to “never give up on their recovery” and know that there is hope for brain injured people to “learn to live with your new brain” and continue on the path to “new brain living”
